Be Easy With Yourself...

Updated: Aug 13, 2021

When I am among the trees, especially the willows and the honey locust, equally the beech, the oaks and the pines, they give off such hints of gladness, I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself, in which I have goodness, and discernment, and never hurry through the world but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out "Stay awhile." The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, "It's simple," they say, "and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine."

Mary Oliver

So here we are wintering through these months. I keep reminding myself that life has not been easy so be easy with yourself. I have to remind myself of that quite often these days. Be easy with yourself. Maybe I should make it a personal mantra or a bumper sticker in fact.

I think one of the things I love most about yoga and meditation practice is that it evokes this deep sense of belonging to ourselves and one another. We are able to connect with ourselves and to feel more at home within our bodies and mind. And at the same time, the practice encourages and reminds us of our interconnectedness with one another. There is a real sense of community. And even though I have not seen so many of you for quite some time now I know our community is still very much there.

Life has presented us with so many unexpected hardships this past year....we need to find places to restore and replenish the body, the mind, the soul.....my hope is that each of you find a refuge somewhere whether it be yoga, meditation, bundling up and taking a walk with a friend, making a good meal, reading a good book, listening to your favorite music... Whatever it is do these things often and do them well.

And be easy with yourself.

Much Love,

Jenny
